Pool Rules

2011 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament

If you've made it this far on the web site, then you must be seriously thinking about getting in on the fun. In any kind of event that involves a group of people, you all know that guidelines have to be set. To make the pool fair and enjoyable as possible for all, including both the players and the pool administrator (me...Armando), the following ground rules had to be laid down. By submitting an entry pick sheet, you agree to the rules and terms of the pool.

There is no limit as to how many times you can enter. However, there is a $10 fee per entry. NO EXCEPTIONS...$9.99 doesn't get you in.

There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. The payout schedule for the pool winners will depend on the number of total paid entry fees received and will be distributed as follows:

  • 1st place - 70% of entry fees;
  • 2nd place - 20% of entry fees;
  • 3rd place - 10% of entry fees.

Example: If the total number of paid entry fees was $500, then:

  • 1st place: $500 x 70%=$350 ($500 x 70%);
  • 2nd place: $500 x 20%=$100 ($500 x 20%); and
  • 3rd place: $500 x 10%=$50 ($500 x 10%)

All entry fees will be held by the pool administrator for payout to the winners. Payout to all winners will be distributed as soon as possible after the conclusion of the tournament.

Entry fees MUST be received by the deadline date of Friday, March 18, 2011. Your picks will not be uploaded into the pool until I am in receipt of your entry fees. Failure in sending in an entry fee for each submitted entry pick will result in your entry picks from not being included in the pool. No IOU's, No EXCEPTIONS.

The recommended method for completing an entry pick sheet is via the web entry form. All pick sheets/entries must be received by the pool administrator no later than tip-off of the first tournament game on Thursday, March 17, 2011. If you encounter problems with the form, please contact me immediately.

Any entries received after tip-off of the first tournament game on Thursday, March 17, 2011 will not be accepted. Attempts to submit entries via the web entry form subsequent to the deadline will result in rejection by the server. Entry forms that were successfully submitted prior to the deadline may not immediately be viewed on the pool web site. Your entry requires processing by the pool software which is installed on a local machine and then requires uploading to the web server. Please allow time for your picks to be processed and uploaded to the server. All valid entries will be posted to the web site by late afternoon or early evening of Thursday, March 17, 2011.

The pool administrator will keep all participants apprised of all events pertaining to the pool, including pool standings and results. Check the website periodically for updates and news. Standings and results will be updated in a reasonable and timely manner as allowable by my schedule (I have a real job for those who may not know). Should there be any reason for a delay in updating the pool results, the pool administrator will inform all participants ahead of time or as soon as possible.

Pool management, including scoring determination, are explained separately.
